There are three artisan food producers in
Tottenham. You can’t buy their products in the area. None of them sell locally.
Wildes Cheese, hand made
in Tottenham.
Flourish Bakery based just
off the High Road sell at farmers markets in London
Redemption Brewery sells
at many bars and cafes in the west of the borough. The only place you can buy
their beer in the east is at the Tottenham Conservative Club.
A few months ago I went to
a talk given by Philip of Wildes Cheese at Bruce Castle. The room was packed; I
was surprised that so many people wanted to know about cheese making. The
people selling cheese were mobbed and sold out.
And so it came to me,
bread, cheese, beer. The Tottenham Ploughmans. Working with Downhill’s Park café on the 8th September we’re holding the Tottenham Ploughmans
picnic.
A chance to try the
cheese, bread and beer made in Tottenham. The team from Redemption brewery will
be there to hand out their beer.
Buy a taster plate and
then buy more if you want to. Hopefully
you’ll be able to buy to take home too.

DeleteAs a fan of Noel Park Market, it would be good as you say if these producers not forget the community around them. While not all are affluent, they are all equally deserving of good food and produce. I hope these producers make an effort to make their goods available to all.
